Well this little Austrian town was quiet and relaxing. We did a whole lot of nothing in St Johann! Well we did eat! The town was so cute and pretty and probably much more lively in the snow season, but it was just as pretty in summer. All we did on the first day was explore the town and eat a banana Sundae. The place we chose must have been the local hangout. It was full of kids that looked about 12 to 16, smoking and playing cards. Smoking is very acceptable indoors in Europe, something we didn’t like!

napping.jpg Nat_enjoyi..Austria.jpg After a long sleep in the next day, we headed to an internet café to book some flights to London! The promise of dirt cheap flights didn’t happen for us, but we found some fairly cheap with Ryanair, the 15kg luggage limit could be a problem. Later that day we took the cable car trip up to the highest Mountain point, and from there most people hike back down, but we decided to sit at the cafe up the top, and have beer, coffee and apple strudle...mmmm. After all that we needed a nap in the hammocks, then took the lazy option back down on the cable car.

grant_in_Austria.jpg Both nights in Austria a group of us went to the pub next door for Schnitzel! Schnitzel in the country that started it, and chips was all we had and it was almost one of the best meals of the trip! Then it was back to the hostel for cards. The hostel was very cute. The lady who owned it (passed down from her father), converted the house into a hostel, it feels like a house with lots of bedrooms, very homely! She lives in the house with her daughter. There was a little kitchen and seating area, this room was full of stuffed animals and skulls! The lady was a hunter. There was the most bizzare stuffed animal, I wish I had taken a photo of it! It was a beaver but she had added bits of other animals to it. So it was a beaver with duck feet, reindeer antlers, wings and I think some other bits that I can't remember...it was freaky!!
